US State Approves "Church Poker"

In South Carolina churches are a big deal, which is not surprising for a US state that is commonly referred to as part of the "Bible Belt." What may be surprising is that poker has been given the green light as long as the cards are being dealt by a church. The recent shift in legislation is away from a 200 year old law that prohibits card games, and will allow churches and other non profit groups to host poker games to raise funds. The upshot of the law means that home games remain illegal, but games of Texas Holdem are fine if played during a church fundraiser.
