On Tuesday, February 14th the City Council for the city of Monroe met to discuss social gaming but ended up tabling the discussion. The delay was designed to give councilors David Ballard and Mike Lancaster enough time to put together an ordinance that would allow the ultra popular Texas Hold'em poker games. Ordinances from other cities that have similarities to what they hope to accomplish will be considered by Ballard and Lancaster. Some Monroe citizens are disappointed at the delay, such as Charlie Pecorilla who had hopes of organizing a poker game at the Long Branch tavern. Despite the delay odds are good that the city council is moving toward approving poker, and organizers such as Pecorilla should be able to host poker events in the near future.
