The worlds biggest and most venerated professional poker tour is ready to prove once again why they are deserving of so much poker player loyalty by once more upping the jackpot for their main event. The World Series of Poker, now owned by the world’s largest casino operator, Harrah’s Entertainment, will add another 2.5 million to the prize, making it ten million for 2006.
For years the WSOP was at a one million dollar prize cap, then in 2003 the amount jumped to $2.5 million the same time poker everyman Chris Moneymaker made the news by being an online qualifier to the event he eventually won. The following year Greg Raymer won the prize, which had doubled to $5 million, and last year it was Joe Hachem with the win and the $7.5 million cash out.
