European Poker Tour Events Differ From U.S.

By launchpoker, Feb 12, 2006

Poker is, and always has been, a global game. A game that crosses borders and language barriers to people of all nations and cultures; yet, primarily due to Hollywood but in no small part to the American ideal of doing thing in a big way, poker is often seen as an American game, at least one that Americans dominate in. This past year shows that times may be changing. French online cash qualifiers were more numerous than Americans, the first time this has happened in the European Poker Tour.

Players in the EPT events say that the games have a less confrontational atmosphere. While the players are there to take everyone else’s chips, make no mistake, they seem to go about it in a more civilized fashion. Outbursts are less frequent and more visceral, and the games seem to be played in a more friendly way. This bodes well for the future of poker in Europe.
