By launchpoker, Feb 9, 2006

World Poker Tour Enterprises Inc, the parent company of the ultra popular poker circuit and TV show the World Poker Tour, seeks to establish a bigger presence in the online gaming market. They have made a start with the launch of the poker room portion of their website, and have taken another step by hiring Thomas Weisel Partners.

The parent company of the World Poker Tour has to explore options, including a sale or merger, to help the company grow. WPT Enterprises is not disclosing any information about the potential of a merger or sale. Poker legend Doyle Brunson has come under fire from the SEC for making an unsolicited bid for WPTE to the tune of $700 million.
