When Skatteverket, the tax board in Sweden, announced that online poker sites were going to be targeted for tax evasion crimes, the blogosphere said not to worry: individual poker players would not be harassed. It turns out they were wrong to think so, as a recent report suggests that nearly fifty online poker playing individuals have been targeted by Skatteverket for tax evasion suspicions. This would represent nearly €45 million in unclaimed income, and more than ten percent of that belonging to individuals as opposed to poker companies.
