Vice Chief of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians Larry Blythe has revealed in interviews with the Asheville Citizen-Times that the governor has said no to the idea of live poker at the Cherokee Indians casino. Harrah’s Cherokee Casino is seeking live poker to offer its patrons, and the vice chief seems to think that Governor Easley won’t be agreeing to it at all.The Chief of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, however, says the opposite, that no final decisions on the issue have been made. Chef Michel Hicks sounds optimistic compared to Blythe’s certainty. The office of the governor has made no comment on the issue one way or another. The tribe has hopes that offering live poker would see more than four hundred new jobs and fifteen million dollars added.
