Pro Poker Tour Finds Home With Travel Channel

It was touch and go for a while. The creators of the World Poker Tour, who have a relationship with broadcaster The Travel Channel, had created a new kind of poker event, called the Professional Poker Tour, and had high hopes for placing it with their broadcast partners as another TV program. Instead, what the World Poker Tour got was a bit of legal hassle. The Travel Channel had at first passed on the idea of the PPT, and when WPT shopped it around to a number of places, including ESPN, the Travel Channel reacted strongly.

In the end, however, it turns out that WPT Enterprises, the parent company of the World Poker Tour, will be placing its new show with their old partners. The Professional Poker Tour is an invitational only poker event where the players are all pro poker folks who have qualified to participate.
