Daniel Negreanu, who earned the name the “Poker Kid” years ago, has won the World Series of Poker’s Circuit Championship at Grand Casino-Resorts in Tunica, Mississippi. This WSOP event had a $10,000 buy-in with over 240 players in the field. The prize pool was sitting at $2,289,500, with the top prize of $755,525 going to Negreanu. The Poker Kid was the player of the year in 2004 and holds three coveted WSOP gold bracelets. This is the first major win for Negreanu in over a year, likely to the pressures of business.
Negreanu’s site, fullcontactpoker.com, has undergone a redesign and his poker column is syndicated in many newspapers. He was also the poker ambassador for the Wynn poker room for much of 2005.
