Poker is popular, but that is not news all by itself. One of the possibly unforeseen side effects of poker’s global popularity is that other activities have grown in popularity as well. While the World Series of Poker and the World Poker Tour have seen an upswing in attendance and in viewer ship, waking up entrepreneurial activity not only in poker, but other indoor activities like blackjack, pool, darts, and even Rock Paper Scissors.
While big time sports like baseball, football and soccer will always be popular, it is the sports and activities that everyone can play that are catching on. Backgammon websites are spawning almost as fast as poker websites, and can be played for money or for fun, just like the card rooms.
