The latest trend in live poker is a device called a dealerless table, a table fitted with touch screen computers that run a poker game without the need for a physical dealer, cards or chips. The Quebec area casinos have 25 of these machines installed and now the unions that represent nearly 1,500 dealers in the area are lodging a complaint, calling the tables illegal. The request was lodged with the Quebec Superior Court, which has yet to make a decision on the matter. The jury is still out over whether people prefer the tables over those with traditional dealers. With the automated version more hands can be dealt, but there is no charm, according to the dealers unions.
