For the last few years, poker TV has been building up quite a head of steam. Starting with the World Poker Tour and the World Series of Poker, Bravo’s Celebrity Poker Showdown was next, the first to start to crack the mold of “poker tournament TV.” Even so, it was mostly a show about people playing poker, so the batch of new poker shows this year should bring some welcome variety.
Included in the breakdown is Spike TV’s “King Of Vegas", an hour long program that will be part poker tournament TV and part reality show TV, with more emphasis on the player personalities and what goes on behind the scenes of poker events that the quick blurbs you get on the WPT and the WSOP shows.
