On Wednesday, January 16th the Canadian College Poker Championship kicked off its very first qualifier, one of a series of such events that will run through Sunday, May 21st. First, second and third place finishers from each qualifier will go on to play in the final, which will run on May 25th and is sponsored by online poker room Pacific Poker's parent company, 888.com. The winner will get a tuition paying boost to their bankroll to the tune of $9,000 Canadian Dollars. The Canadian College Poker Championship isn't the only student game in the world, however, as the UK launches its own version, the United Kingdom University Poker Championship.
