Finnish poker players are among the most skillfull in the world, but given the direction the Finnish government is going with online poker, that may change in a decade or so. The Finnish Newspaper "Helsingin Sanomat" reported that the government is taking a look at amending current Finnish Gambling laws. Playing poker online used to mean that one could claim losses from the activity, but that may change. Part of the change would be to get online poker sites to ban Finns. The ultimate goal, according to reports, of this new approach in legislation would be to protect gamblers in Finland, where some €150 million is spent every year on gambling.
