Poker Game Sees Shots Fired

In Central Florida a poker game got decidedly unfriendly when an off duty reserve police officer opened fired in an extreme case of going “on tilt.” The Maitland officer was recently released from jail on bond after his arrest.

Going “on tilt” is part of poker terminology and refers to a player losing emotional control when suffering a bad turn of luck at a game, or just being frustrated at poor play. In this case the reserve officer, Daniel Metevier, didn’t get a chance to see how his luck was running as he was not allowed to play, according to investigators. The game taking place in the Oakhurst Reserve community in Seminole County was busted up when Metevier opened fire at two people. He is charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm and is on administrative leave.
