Poker Court Case Adds Evidence

By launchpoker, Jan 14, 2007

While the UK court hearing the case of the Gutshot Club in Clerkenwell has to decide whether or not poker is a game of skill or chance to determine the club owner's guilt or innocence of the charge, evidence of the club owner taking a cut from poker games was introduced. Derek Kelly, 46, says the two charges against him for violating the Gaming Act don't hold water, because the game of poker is a game of skill. Police countered with evidence that on two occasions they observed the club taking a cut from the poker proceedings, and that was the part that brought the charges forward.
