A Wells Fargo, North Dakota man nearly took first place in the World Poker Tour's 2006 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure tournament. Brook Lyter knows his stuff; he organizes poker leagues in two states, a fitting background for the second place finisher who earned his $681,500 prize. Of course, with poker a pedigree isn’t required, as evidenced by the first place finisher Steve Paul-Ambrose of Waterloo, Ontario. Ambrose is a third year student at the University of Waterloo, and his first place finish had him leaving the Bahamas with almost $1.4 million. The event was held at the awe inspiring Atlantis resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas, where 724 players battled it out. Among them were the three World Series of Poker main event champions from the last three years; Chris Moneymaker, Greg “Fossilman” Raymer and Australian Joe Hachem.
