Irish Poker Champ Named

John Clancy is the new Irish Poker Champion, taking a first place finish among 300 other competitors this week. Taking down the championship held in Dublin, Ireland, Clancy also takes the winner's check to the tune of Euro 144,000. The check might have been bigger but the final three players struck a deal in the eleventh hour to split the pot. Second place, worth Euro 75,000, went to Scott Bryant, and it was a Ciaran Burke who picked up Euro 55,000 for his third place finish. These were the top three payouts in the Texas Holdem match, which held a total prize pool of Euro 423,000.
