Online Poker Domain Names Going On Auction

By launchpoker, Jan 7, 2006

In an interesting move the U.S. Gaming Exchange is auctioning off more than 1,600 domain names on eBay. The bidding starts January 6th and goes on through January 16th, giving plenty of chance for late comers to join in the bidding and, likely, drive the price through the roof.

The 1,633 domain names are all gambling related, and all end with the extension of dot com (as opposed to dot net or dot org.) With keyword rich names like poker, blackjack, Omaha, Texas Hold'em and the like, the U.S. Gaming Exchange is hoping they will entice buyers who seek to establish online businesses featuring these popular gaming words. In addition to the domains themselves, the purchaser is also acquiring the right to break them up and resell them or develop them at their own pace.
