Poker for Dummies

poker for dummies

Usually any product for poker players that has the word “dummies” worked into the title would probably make a good gift for a no limit holdem pro like Phil Hellmuth. Maybe that’s Donkeys. Anyway, most people would think that one of those “for dummies” books would make them a better live poker or online poker player. Believe it or not, there is value in this book for the budding Texas Hold’em player, but anyone who buys it needs to recognize the book for what it is.

Somebody going into an online poker room or into a live poker tournament armed only with the book “Poker for Dummies” may as well be going into a UFC cage against Brock Lesnar armed with a Thesaurus and a soup spoon. Granted, using any word that has more than one syllable may confuse the champ for a few moments, but it will only delay the eventual slaughter. A burgeoning poker player should use “Poker for Dummies” as a cheap companion book with some of the other more in depth books. This book covers the basics, and does it very well. This is something that can only help a person who is new to Texas Hold’em as they try to grasp the lessons from one of books written by one of sports masters.

If you are a player who has a good understanding of no limit holdem, and your deficiencies are in your overall strategy, you are probably well beyond this book. If you are a beginner who is struggling with the games basics, “Poker for Dummies” is more than worth the small amount of money it will cost you.
