Vince McMahon and his World Wrestling Entertainment brand will be directly competing with Dixie Carter and her Total Nonstop Wrestling organization for the hearts and minds of the European wrestling fans. Both wrestling companies will be touring Europe at the same time. TNA will be trying to expand its growing fan base, as the WWE will be doing their best to reinforce their market share against Dixie and her stable of usurpers.
McMahon and those on his payroll have consistently sung the company line that they do not consider TNA competition. With this said, they have responded to the TNA European Tour with something that can only be politely referred to as panic. TNA had arranged their European visit months ago, while the WWE tour seems to be something that has recently been thrown together. If this is the case, it is obvious they are trying to derail TNA’s growing ratings on both sides of the Atlantic. For most folks the boardroom battles between two sports entertainment corporations are about as interesting as a documentary on packing foam, this industry squabble does have one very obvious winner; the European fans. They will get to see the best that both companies have to offer.
Both TNA and the WWE will be appearing without one of their signature stars. Jeff Hardy, who has been one of the WWE’s most popular personalities for almost a decade, recently left the company and is dealing with some personal issues during his hiatus. Angelina Love, who is part of the wildly popular team “the Beautiful People”, is currently unable to wrestle due to some issues with her work Visa. Angelina is a Canadian citizen and needs her paperwork in order to work for an American company. A lot of use will be sobbing uncontrollably in our beers until she gets this situation fixed and comes back.
Any way you look at it, those in Europe who love sports entertainment should get ready for some sensory overload.
