When you are too ugly for the internet, there is almost nothing left for you in life. This is the soul crushing realization that a lot of the former members or the dating site, BeautifulPeople.com, are starting to wake up to. To be honest, nobody is really to ugly for the internet. Considering how many chuds are trolling around Match.com, The World of Warcraft, and any sci-fi fan site that is still lamenting the end of BattleStar Galactica, it is easy to conclude that cyberspace is still very friendly to the people who are...um...looks challenged. It is just BeautifulPeople.com that is getting picky about its members.
The Christmas season has come and gone, and quite frankly a lot of us made complete pigs of ourselves. While this is okay in most social circles, the BeautifulPeople.com has taken a hard line concerning holiday weight gain, and kicked out about 5000 members of the site who packed on a few extra pounds during the holidays. In a statement refreshingly free of any sensitivity or political correctness, BeautifulPeople.com had the following to say about the issue, "As a business, we mourn the loss of any member, but the fact remains that our members demand the high standard of beauty be upheld," said Robert Hintze, founder of BeautifulPeople.com. "Letting fatties roam the site is a direct threat to our business model and the very concept for which BeautifulPeople.com was founded."
You have to give the guy points for honesty. Despite being demonized in the press, the company has no plans to change the way it operates. In an olive branch to the members who have snacked their way off the site, they are welcome back as soon as they shed the extra pounds.
