[Introducing the Winner] Weird Mirror: Name the Sketches
Our Weird Mirror: Name the Sketches competition attracted so many of you, and we thank everyone who took their time to participate in the contest! We hope you had a lot of fun guessing the names of some of the most popular poker players in the world - and we are happy to congratulate the winner of the competition, the person who managed to name all of the players correctly. Congratulations go to Jane Lipton - well done! As promised, the winner receives a professionally drawn cartoon of herself - enjoy!
Here's what Jane told us about herself and her win in the contest:
My name's Jane and I'm from Oklahoma. I must say that I'm pretty new to the game and even now, after almost a year of playing poker, they often think my playing style is rather "strange"! But as I win from time to time, playing at virtual and home game poker tables, I must admit I prefer to stick to my "strange" style (oddly enough, but I'm not really sure what is so weird in my game) - and of course I am always willing to improve it. I really like poker - and what I like the most is that it involves not only luck but skill, which makes it a bit closer to chess - where I am a champion! ;-)
My friends're responsible for introducing me to the game of poker - once we decided to throw a small party, and to wrap up that get-together my friends wanted to play poker. I was against - I did not know the rules completely, but the facts that they were very persistent in asking me to play and that playing with no clue of what is going on is a way better than watching the game with the same feeling (yup, that is true ;-) ) - those facts made me sitting at the table with a couple of cards in my hands. It was Texas Hold 'em and I was sitting on the button. And I mean during the whole game I was in the dealer position - that was kind of leg-up my lovely friends gave me! I must admit it looked very funny how they were changing their seats after every hand played - all in order to keep me in the dealer position.
I picked up on the game fast - and besides learning the strategies to become a better player, I was looking for information about and from those who have already excelled in the game. I think that is why it was pretty easy for me to name all the players in the Weird Mirror contest. I'm very happy that I won!!! Thank you :-)
