Two Hands for Sam

When the featured table in this episode of NBC poker show the National Heads Up Championship, during the 2009 season, Round of 32 Hearts and Diamonds Brackets, was over and done, there was still poker to be played. Huck Seed versus Gus Hansen had been the big news at the featured table, but it was Sam Farha and Peter Eastgate still battling it out at a side table.

In these two hands viewers got to see two different modes of play.

In the first hand Peter, with:

raised it to $2,800. Sam re raised with apple jacks:

and jacked it up to $8,800. Peter didn’t bother trying to mess with Sam, and he mucked his hand.

In the second hand Peter raised it up to $2,700 with:

Sam, with ace small of:

called.

The Flop hit:

and Sam checked the top pair. Peter bet $3,500.

The Turn:

and two checked

The River:

Sam checked. Peter thought it about it, but decided to check, shipping the pot to Sam. He could have taken a chance and fired a bluff at the pot, but sometimes discretion is the better part of valor, even in poker.
