At the final match up, players would get the best out of three, but until then players in the 2009 National Heads Up Championship from NBC were playing a pass or fail kind of game. If they lost this match, they did not advance, and during the Clubs Bracket on the first episode, with a featured table of Chris Moneymaker and Daniel Negreanu, it was getting close for Daniel. If he blew it in this hand, he was out of the running.

a pretty decent heads up hand. Danie, with:
made the call to see what he could see.
The Flop came down:
giving Daniel the lead. He checked, as did Chris, an it was time for Fourth Street.
The Turn came down:
giving Chris a dangerous pair. Daniel moved all in, double the amount in the pot, more than $8,000 and the last of his chances for a win. Should he get a call and lose, he was done.
Chris thought about it, and then made the all. He needed another six or an ace or he was putting Danny back in the game.
The River hit:
and Danny did it, doubling up and staying in the game.
