During the 2009 NBC National Heads Up Poker Championship the action had gotten down to four players, each hoping to be the ultimate winner of the half million dollar prize. With Huck Seed and Sammy Farha at the featured table, and Vanessa Rousso and Bertrand “Elky” Grospeillier at a second table in the semi final round, this hand focused on Huck’s ability to draw money from his opponent.
Sammy started things off by limping from the button with:
Huck responded by raising to $30k with pocket cowboys:
Sammy called, hoping to outplay his opponent after the flop.
The Flop came down:
and Huck, now under the gun from the big blind, checked it. Sammy checked it as well.
The Turn hit:
Huck was trying to induce a bet last street by checking, but this time he didn’t want to lose any potential money. He put out $45k, and Sammy made the call with his middle pair.
The River hit:
and Huck was ready to collect. He fired $130k out and Sammy went into the tank. There wasn’t too much to think about, however, and Sam made a good fold.
