National Heads Up Poker Championship- Heads Up Fold Em

It was quarterfinals time at the 2008 National Heads Up Poker Championship, with only eight players left remaining after the initial 64. Playing today were Baseball hall of famer Orel Hershiser versus Blackjack maven Andy Block and Mr. Mellow Huck Seed versus the high rolling Frenchman David Benyamine This was the quarterfinals of the Hearts and Diamonds bracket, and in this particular hand it was Seed and Benyamine testing each other out.

Huck was under the gun and first to act, and with:


He called the big blind. David, sitting on:


Decided to play it rough and raised it to $7k, more than three times the big blind. Huck called him out to see the flop.

The Flop came down with a pair on the board, which often prompts someone to bluff at the pot. The flop was:


Sure enough, David fired another $7k in tourney chips, and Huck came along for the ride.

The Turn hit:


and this time David called and Huck bet! Huck put out $12k, having finally made a pair, and David smooth called.

The River was:


a scare card again, and this time David fired a massive $20k. What this looked like to Huck was that David was sitting on Ace high all along and thought it was good, and was sure it was good now that he had a pair. Huck folded away the best hand, giving the pot to David.
