Drawing Stone Dead

Drawing dead is an expression used in poker, especially no limit Texas Hold'em poker, that means that there is no way a player can win, regardless of what cards come along the way. This happened during the final table of the 2009 World Poker Tour Bay 101 Shootout, with Steve Brecher, Kathy Leibert, Chris Moore and Tony Behari all depending in one fashion or another on the outcome of the hand.

The Flop could hardly have fallen better for Kathy as it hit:

filling her boat. She cleverly checked, as did Tony.

The Turn came down:

and now Tony was drawing stone dead, as commentator Mike Sexton said. There was no card that could help him now. Kathy checked again, hoping he would take the bait, and he did, making it $75k. Kathy had three choices; call, raise, or all in. She made the right move – she raised it to $200k, tempting him to try to out muscle her.

He did. He moved all in, and she called.

The River hit:

but no one was watching, as Kathy was too busy celebrating doubling up again.
