WSOP 1973: Johnny Moss vs Puggy Pearson

 icon

This was the first year the WSOP to be taped. At the final table Puggy Pearson was dealt::  Moss hand seemed to be better:  Both players had nothing. The flop was:  Now theyre both on a draw: Johnny has a straight draw, Puggy a flush draw. Johnny still hoped hell be lucky. Like he was back in 1970 and 1971. He moved all-in. But this was Pearsons day:  Thus Pearson won $130,000 and the title... with just an ace high. Al Reinent (from Texas Monthly) wrote then: Pug looks like hes between acts as a circus clown, but hes one of the best three all-round card players alive.
