At the final table Carlos Mortensen had Marriage:While Dewey Tomko had the best possible preflop hand:Mortensen raised to $100,000 at the very beginning. Tomko called. The dealer turned over the first three cards:This flop gave Mortenson a straight draw and a flush draw and nothing to Tomko. So Mortenson bet $100,000, Tomko raised $400,000. Mortensen moved all-in. Tomko still thought he had the best hand. Though it was so for some time It was so even when they showed their card. Someone cried: This could be it! And then the final board cards were turned over:Fancy what might have experienced Tomko when he saw 3d I wonder what he felt when he saw the river I played as well as I could have. Fate is fate said Dewey after the game. Yes, he played well. But the nine of diamonds decided his fate.
