At the 1983 final table Tom McEvoy was he chip leader. His opponent was Rod Peters. Both they managed to knock out Doyle Brunson who had to enjoy bronze this time. When it turned to heads-up Rod received and Tom So, Peters had quite a good hand and bet $50,000. He didnt know that McEvoy had already made a hand. McEvoy glanced at his middle pair and moved in. Rod called. On the river they saw Peters was not able to make a flush. So, McEvoy won with his overpair. Thus Tom received his gold bracelet and $580,000.
