WPT Season 6 - The Gambling Dane

  Everyone who plays no limit poker has to have a bit of gamble in him or her. At the Grand Prix de Paris during the sixth season of the World Poker Tour, there were four players left who had a lot of gamble, but it was Dane Henrik Witt, who married his gambling ways with fantastic poker skills, putting him in position to win.



  In this hand there was a young player from Finland they called Hellraiser, but whose given name was Jani Sointula, and who commentator Vince Van Patten had nicknamed "Thor" due to his long blonde hair.



  Henrik pushed it up to 80k in tourney euros with:






... and two players dropped out of the way. Jani, however, wanted to play. The young Finnish poker pro had a knack for reading poker situations, and that knack served him well here. With only:






... he moved all in, which meant that Henrik would have to put up nearly half his stack, another 442k, to call.



  Henrik, however, liked to gamble. He called.



  The flop came:







... and Jani remained out in front. The turn of:





... gave him an unneeded pair, and it was just for the river to decide. When:





... hit, however, there was no happy ending for Henrik. While he was still in the game, he had traded positions with Jani, who now had more than a million in tourney euros, and a better shot at the win.
