During the sixth season of the World Poker Tour at the famous Aviation Club in Paris, only four players were left to fight it out for the victory at the Grand Prix de Paris. Two from Finland and two from Denmark, two pairs of friends, but there was no holds barred in this match.
In this particular hand young Thomas Wahlroos from Finland limped in with:
... after a slight hesitation. Also in the hand were Christian Grundtvig from Denmark, the former stamp dealer they called "the Stamp", who called from the small blind with:
... Fellow Dane Henrik Witt happily checked from the big blind for a free look at the flop holding:
... The flop came down:

... giving everyone a piece. Christian, with by far the best hand, elected to check to the more aggressive Henrik. As he suspected the Dane bet out 75k in tourney euros with second pair, and Thomas called. Christian then turned up the heat, announcing "raise."
The Stamp pushed forward an additional 200k in tourney euro plaques. After a moment's hesitation, both players bowed out, realizing that the smooth check on the flop had them fooled. Commentator Mike Sexton pointed out how his nice check on the flop wound up earning him money from both players, where a bet may have got Henrik to call, but certainly not Thomas, who would be facing a bet and a call with only second pair.
