One team had finally busted out at the Father and Son Event held during season five of the World Poker Tour, which meant that the players had to switch places. Dick Van Patten and son Vince Van Patten were out, which left Doyle Brunson and son Todd Brunson, Barry Greenstein and son Joe Sebok, Steve Stolzman and son John Stolzman, Romeo Simon and son Mike Simon, and Card Player owners Barry Shulman and son Jeff Shulman to see who was the best father and son player. Part of the rules stated that, while only one player could actually play the hand, once the levels changed or when a team busted out the players on the teams would switch positions, which put The Robin Hood of Poker, Barry Greenstein, at the table.
Barry is a world class player with thirty years of experience, and the other players at the table were well aware of that. He was also known for being an old school No Limit Holdem player, and that meant tight and aggressive and never raising from under the gun without a massive hand. So when he did the opposite of what was expected of him, he got instant respect.
Barry was the first to act, and he took a look at:
... and made a raise to $18k. One by one all the other players folded their hands, and in most cases they had hands superior to Barry's. Just like that Barry picked up chips he had no right to, and increased his stack by doing the unexpected.
