At first pro poker players can get a little star struck when a movie star sits down at the table. If they let themselves get confused or fancy, the amateur player might even make off with some of their money. Those celebrities that stick it out, however, lose their ability to rattle the pros just with their star appeal, but then there is another problem - they get good enough to take chips with skill.
One such player is American Pie actress Shannon Elizabeth, who has made an impressive run at a second career in poker, even making it very deep in NBC's National Heads-Up Poker Championship last season. This season, during a first round run of the sixty four poker pros and celebrities in the game, she was matched up with poker pro and lawyer Andy Bloch.
In this particular hand Shannon had Andy making mistakes pre flop, according to the announcer of this and NBC's other poker show, Poker After Dark, by the name of Ali. In the hand Shannon limped in with:
... and Andy raised with:
... to $2,300. Ali said he was surprised to see Andy raising so much pre flop. Typically the better player keeps the pots small in heads up and tries to outplay their opponents after the flop, where more mistakes are made. In this case Andy raised and Shannon called. The flop hit:

... and once more Andy put out $2,000. The less experienced Shannon didn't buy his show of strength and punished him by raising it to $6,000 with absolutely no hand. Bloch had no choice but to fold.
