Poker After Dark - The Magic Unabomber

Sometimes best pals at the poker table can turn into terrible adversaries, especially when a spirit of competition gets corrupted. That never seems the case with two young poker pros who are always fun to watch at the table, and who manage to keep their friendship intact regardless of how the cards fall.

The hit NBC poker show Poker After Dark had had a few memorable episodes with special themes, but sometimes they just pull together the right mix of poker pros and watch the magic happen. That was the case with this episode, hosted as usual by Shana Hiatt, which had gotten down to the final three players: Antonio Esfandiari, known as The Magician; Phil Laak known as the Unabomber and Shawn Sheikhan, who had no alias as of yet, although sometimes they called him "the Sheik."

... moved all in for $20,625, Phil made the call. These two knew each other so well that they seemed like enemies at the table rather than friends, looking to best one another. Laak was delighted with what he saw. "Please let this hold up! Please, oh please, Dealer. Please let me hurt Antonio!"

  The flop came down:

... and Laak, already out in front, surged further ahead. When the turn hit:

... Esfandiari started counting out more chips, and when the river hit:

... it was all over for the Magician. Antonio was out in 3rd, walking away with no cash prize.
