Sometimes it looks like pro poker players miss out on opportunities to slam their opponents. Often this is because they are extra cautious in certain situations, trusting their instincts that have kept them alive and winning for countless poker sessions. In one hand we saw this in action, during NBC's Poker After Dark 3rd season, during Hecklers' Week.
In this hand Sam Grizzle and Jean-Robert Bellande butted heads in a pot, keeping things relatively civil between them. They preferred to gang up on one of the other players in that session, Phil Hellmuth.
In this hand Bellande raised it up to $500 with:
... likely hoping to take down the blinds, which were at $100 and $200. He got a caller in Sam, though, from the big blind holding:
... The flop hit:

... and Grizzle checked his option with nothing. Bellande bet out $600, and Sam tried a tricky check raise to $1,600. Bellande, with only bottom pair, called.
The turn brought a surprise set to Bellande with:
... Sam bet out $2,400, still with nothing, hoping to represent top pair or better. Bellande, utilizing a little misdirection, asked Sam if he had a four. Bellande called, and it was time for the river. The final card hit:
... and Sam kept firing, putting $3,000 in the pot. Robert thought a long, long time, and finally raised it to $6,000. Sam folded his hand and nursed his wounds.
