Poker After Dark - Sorry to Hear That

  Chris Ferguson is a master at hiding his tells. He wears dark cloths, has a beard and long hair, dons black sunglasses, and measures his movements in a way designed to mask what he is thinking. He even wears a black cowboy hat, which is why he was chosen to play during Poker After Dark's Cowboy Week. But once the action is over, Chris is free with his thoughts, and his compliments.



  In this particular hand Chris went up against the chip leader and fellow math based poker pro, Andy Bloch. Chris was first to act and hoped to pick up some blinds when he moved all in holding:






... to the tune of nearly $15,000 in tourney chips and cash. Andy knows Chris and he knows how he playes. He knows that Chris plays by the math and that means he could move all in with a lot of hands. Thus, when he saw he was holdilng:






... he said, "I think I have to call you." Chris's reply, after Andy called his all in move, was "Sorry to hear that." As soon as the flop hit:







... both players began rattling off runner runner combinations of cards that Chris would need to win. Once the turn came as:





... they knew it was over, as a nine was not one of the cards he needed. The river hit:





... and it was over, with the man in black hitting the rail and out of the running for the winner take all prize.
