When Phil Hellmuth starts a hand behind, he rarely catches the break he needs to pull back ahead. But then again, poker is poker, and you never say never in poker. During this hand the game was being played out on Poker After Dark's Dream Table episode, where amateur player Ken Light pulled together five of his poker heroes: Scotty Nguyen, Jen Harman, Phil Hellmuth, Mike Matusow, and Daniel Negreanu. Dan limped in with: ... Phil raised things up with: ... to $1,500. Dan made the call and it was time for a flop. And what a flop it was. Phil was feeling good as he nailed top pair and good kicker when the flop came: ... Of course, Kid Poker had nailed two pair and had the Poker Brat crushed. Daniel checked it to Phil, who thought his opponent was weak. He went into the tank for a bit and then pushed out $3,500. Negreanu once again wanted things to look suspicious with an over bet, and so moved all in, as if he was bluffing. Phil called, and then wished he hadn't. When the turn hit: ... Phil was in bad shape. He started the hand ahead and then got behind with the flop. The river, however, saved him when it hit: ... and gave him a bigger two pair.
