He has been on TV more, it seems, than any other poker player. There is a good reason for this. His Poker Brat nickname is well earned and he is always ready for fireworks at the poker table, but despite that he is a fantastic poker player. Phil Hellmuth, the target of his table mates during Hecklers' Week on NBC's Poker After Dark, had to work hard to stay in a game that would bring him $120,000 if he won. Sam Grizzle, Shawn Sheikhan, Jean-Robert Bellande, Mike Matusow and Gavin Smith were also in the game, and each had taken a shot at him so far except for Shawn, both with chips and verbally. In this hand it was Shawn's turn for some schooling. Phil raised it to $700 while the big blind was still $200, holding: ... Shawn, with: ... decided to speculate from the big blind and called. The flop hit: ... giving Shawn the lead. Shawn checked and Phil put out $1,300. Shawn decided to call, speculating even more in a very dangerous situation. How dangerous it was, was made apparent to the TV audience on the turn, when: ... hit the board, putting Phil ahead. They both checked, bringing on the river: ... Shawn checked one final time, and Phil put out $3,000. Shawn went into the tank, and eventually made a crying call, shipping even more money to the chipleader.
