It was Hecklers Week during the third season of Poker After Dark, and all players except for Phil Hellmuth and Shawn Sheikhan had been eliminated making it heads up play. Phil said about it, "This'll be an interesting match up, because I limp a lot and you raise a lot." That might be true, but Phil might have just given away enough of a hint to ensure his defeat.
In the first hand Phil did limp, calling $800 with:
... Shawn checked his position with:
... and it was time for the flop. The flop came down as:

... and Shawn just checked. Phil followed suit, and it was time for the turn. The turn came as:
... and this time Shawn bet $3000. Phil said, "Well, let's see. I know you didn't have anything on the flop. Did the seven hit you? Huh. All right." Phil followed up by folding his hand. While he did get away from losing any more money on the pot he also demonstrated twice in this hand that his read on his opponent is not perfect. Not only did Shawn not raise pre-flop but he certainly did hit the flop.
It was the beginning of an interesting match up between these two adversarial professional poker players.
