Poker After Dark - I Am Pot Committed!

One of the more interesting parts of the hit poker show on NBC, Poker After Dark, is the chance to watch poker players in their "natural habitat." The show pulls six players, at a cost of $20k of their own money each, into a No Limit Holdem game where the winner takes all. The camera shows all the hands, and there is no creative editing.  In this episode it was down to two players, the other four long gone home. Shawn Sheikhan and Phil Laak, who had taken down his Unabomber hood, were all that were left. In this hand Phil looked down at: ... and raised to $31,600. When he moved his money in, he said, "I am pot committed! With that move, I'm pot committed!" He meant that if Shawn forced him all in, he would have to call. That was what Shawn thought too. Shawn moved all in with: ... and true to his word, Laak called. When they turned up the cards, Shawn laughed.  "An ace for my championship," said Shawn, "and a king for yours. How sick is that?" The dealer laid out the first three cards, the flop hitting: ... and Phil was up and happy. Hostess Shana Hiatt came close to watch, and the air was electric with what the future would hold. The turn was: ... and Shawn was up, ready to fork over his share of the $120,000 that Phil was about to win.  Then the river hit: ... Laak literally fell over backwards on to the floor, and the ace on the river caused Shana to cover her mouth in shock. Just like that the victory was taken from Phil and given to Shawn, the newest Poker After Dark champ.
