One thing is for sure: when you put together a Poker After Dark show and call it "Hecklers' Week", you are sure to get players that will voice their opinions. With Jean-Robert Bellande, Mike Matusow, Gavin Smith, Sam Grizzle, Phil Hellmuth, and Shawn Sheikhan at the table, that opinion is normally centered around how good the individual player is, and how bad the rest are. Every so often one of the players will make a bad play, however, and have to face the derision of their table mates. In this hand Smith, the quiet one among the six, called the $300 big blind with: ... Sam made the call from the small blind with: ... while Bellande from the big blind checked with: ... The flop hit: ... pushing Smith way out in front but giving Sam a Broadway straight draw. Sam bet out $600, getting a fold from "Bad Boy Bellande", and a call from Smith. The turn came: ... and Sam put out $1,600, bluffing away, and once more Smith just called. The river, however, dropped a King: ... giving Sam the Broadway. This time he checked, hoping to show weakness and get Smith to bet at it. Gavin wasn't fooled, however, and simply checked as well. So Sam, who just two hands before was busting Gavin over his play, led out twice with the worst hand and then played weak with the best. It was a few hands later before the teasing stopped.
