Poker After Dark - Don't Wave Weakly

When six players sit at a poker table and put up $20k of their own money in a winner take all game, these players are going to do their absolute best. Imagine how badly they would want to win if the buy in was $50k instead, which was the case in the Mega Match week of Poker After Dark, an NBC poker show that pitted six poker pros against one another.  In this show Barry Greenstein, Eli Elezra, Allen Cunningham, Jen Harman, David Benyamine and Phil Ivey were the principle players, each hoping to walk away with the $300k top prize. Jen and David were out, however, and in this hand Allen was showing why he was the chip leader.  Phil Ivey took charge right away, with host Shana Hiatt looking on, by raising to $12,000 in tourney chips and cash with a respectable: ... This is the kind of hand you want a caller on, and then hope to hit your ace and see the other player show weakness - and if they show strength then surely your weak kicker is beat. Even better would be to flop two pair with your opponent making top pair.  Ivey never got a chance to see any of that, however. Allen took a look at his: ... and decided to take the issue off the table with an all in move. "How much do you have left?" he asked, and saw Phil wave his hand like he was surprised by the question - just enough info to tell Allen that he would fold under pressure. "Alright, I'm all in," said Allen. Ivey folded.
