Andy Bloch has had a lot of success in the poker world and is considered a bit of a superstar himself. So when this former MIT blackjack guru says he is facing one of his toughest poker tables of all time, it is truly saying something about the competition. It was Cowboy Week at Poker After Dark, and Andy was joined by Doyle Brunson, Chau Giang, Gabe Kaplan, and Chris Ferguson, with the Alabama Cowboy Hoyt Corkins just recently hitting the rail. In this particular hand Gabe, best known for his role in the 70's TV show "Welcome Back Kotter", called the $800 big blind from the cut off position with: ... normally a horrible hand. Giang was in with: ... and Andy checked from the big blind with: ... and it was three players to the flop. The flop hit: ... and it was Andy who got a big hand, landing trip eights. He played it coy, however, and after Giang checked he checked too. Gabe, with a pair of sixes, bet out $1,600, forcing Giang to fold. Andy turned up the heat with a raise to $5,100, and Gabe came along. The turn brought: ... and Andy figured enough was enough - either Gabe had something good and would pay him off or he didn't. Andy put out $10k in tourney chips and cash. Gabe went into the tank, but could not justify the big call, and folded.
