Here it was at the Doyle Brunson North American Championship and there couldn't have been up to more appropriate players at the table, unless it had been Doyle Brunson himself and his son Todd. After burning through all of the entrants and the six final table players during this season four World Poker Tour event, it was now heads-up for Minh Ly and Dan Harrington.
They call Gus Hansen the "Great Dane" in homage to his homeland and his poker ability, but they have a few other nicknames for him as well. The "Poker Trashman" is one, and probably the nicest of the lot, which all have to do with his playing style. Or, perhaps, what his playing style used to be. You see, the Great Dane has done what all great poker players need to do from time to time - he switched up his game.
You're not going to win every hand you bet on. Even the world's best players get stumped or bluffed or simply misjudge a value from time to time. It's part of being a human instead of a poker playing robot from the future. Sometimes, you find yourself having to modify your expectations, whether they be about a hand, a bet, or an entire game.
