There's a few things in common between Dungeons & Dragons and poker. A very few things, but this article isn't about commonalities between the two games, instead it's about a big difference between the two, but a difference that can provide the learning poker player an important insight into his game.
Most people are not quite sure what else Roger Tory Peterson did with his life, but he did write the definitive field guide for those who like looking at birds. Thanks to Mr. Peterson a lot of us can quickly figure out if that bird divinig at us at 200 miles per hour is hawk or a really brain damaged seagull. Those without the guide would have to sort that out for themselves. That can be rather painful experience. The point is that for some of us, there is value in being able to tell one bird from another. This is probably also a good lesson for poker players.
