High Stakes Poker is not the only Texas Hold’em based show that is returning in the New Year. Those who have been worn down by the holidays, and are ready to get back to something that resembles normal will be happy to see that Poker After Dark is returning on Monday, January 4th. Some of the themes and poker player combinations they will have sitting around the poker table are creative to say the least, and are shaping up to be some of the most entertaining poker of the shows run.
Poker After Dark will be inviting some of their ratings rivals to the set. Poker pros and “High Stakes Poker” commentators, Gabe Kaplan and Kara Scott, will be stopping by and competing with other Texas Hold’em pundits in the “Commentators III” game. In the “Nicknames” game, PAD will be brining the poker players with the coolest nicknames to the poker table and letting them see who the best of the lot is. Poker Pro Annette Obrestad easily has the best nickname with her “Huntress” moniker, and will hopefully top “the Mouth” and “the Magician”. While the “He said, She said” game sounds like the aftermath of a date gone horribly wrong, it does bring the hottest female poker player, Erica Schoenberg, back to PAD along with Karina Jett, and Annie duke.
All in all, the PAD poker table looks like it is going to provide some of the most entertaining Texas Hold’em action on television this year. For those who are interested in watching the new Season of Poker After Dark, it starts on January 4th at 2:05 AM. Obviously anybody awake at this time of the morning probably has a nickname like “clocktower” or “unibomber”, but thank god for the invention of the DVR. We can get our beauty sleep (in my case, very much needed) and still watch one of our favorite shows.
