Party Poker goes Aggressively into Television

Jesse May

Party Poker seems to be going for the Howard Sternesque title of “King of All Media”. As we all know, they are now the owners of the World Poker Tour. Of course they have a very high profile in the online poker genre as well. Now the folks at Party Poker are sponsoring yet another television venture. They will be presenting the new season of “The Poker Show with Jesse May”. The celebrities appearing on this show will be people who are closely connected to PartyPoker.com and the World Poker Tour. Poker Legend and Hall of Fame member, Mike Sexton will be appearing on the show, as will poker pros Tony G and the lovely Kara Scott.

This show is not a standalone that exists for Party Poker to prove how many nights in a given week one can see their product on television. There sponsorship of this show exists to support their PartyPoker.com site as well as their World Poker Tour brand. Following each of the eight scheduled episodes, poker players can log in to PartyPoker.com and participate in a $5+1 tournament. This will be happening every Monday and Thursday nights and the tournament can be found on the “Specials” tab. The lucky folks who win these tournaments will be able to play in a special freeroll event on Sunday August 1st. The winner of this event will get to be on television, playing in the Main Event of the WPT London Poker Classic.

Jesse May is very upbeat about the upcoming season. He addressed the shows trials and tribulations and what to expect in the upcoming season. "I'm very excited about the new format. The last three seasons have been trial and error but I think we have cracked the formula. The key words are big names and fast paced – the strength of the show has always been all the great contacts we have in the poker world but now we think we are coming to something that the listeners will love hearing rather than just the people we interview."

The show begins on Wednesday June 30th and is available at iTunes for download at midnight after it airs.
