PaddyPowerPoker Irish Open ends its Second Day

PaddyPoker

With the second day of the 2010 PaddyPowerPoker Irish Open in the books the person at the top of the heap is poker pro, Liam Flood. While it is rare for any poker player to score a near tape to tape victory during a high profile Texas Hold’em event, having the chip lead at the end of the second day is always encouraging. With that said, no lead in a poker tournament of this nature is safe, and there are a number of high quality holdem players snapping at his heels, poised to take over the chip lead on day 3.

Keith “The Camel” Hawkins had a very good first day run. While this poker pro is no longer leading the pack in this holdem main event, he is still in the top 10 and may hang on to participate in the poker tournaments final table. Professional poker player and writer, Jennifer 'Djinn' Mason, is also hanging around in the top 20, and is a sentimental favorite among the fans. Most of us are completely aware of the fact that being an attractive woman usually equals being the fan favorite. In this particular arena, Liam Flood has no chance.

While Mr. Flood has a rather substantial lead on the most of the field, his closest rival is Finland’s own Janne Nevalainen. Janne has 255,000 chips to Liam’s 400,000. While on paper this looks like a rather wide gulf, in the world of Texas Hold’em, this distance could be closed rather quickly. By the end of Easter Sunday most of the final 61 players left in this tourney will be gone, and we will have a final table.
